      Hey everyone!

I don't know what the hell I am doing but allI know is that I am more than a little fascinated with all this iPhone automation stuff. I have Workflow, Drafts, LCP, etc...and I want to get more involved in automating and even creating with my iPhone/Pad/Comp.

I just got editorial a couple weeks ago, and now I am eyeing Pythonista. My question is: Is there still a good advantage in getting Pythonista after getting editorial, as I understand that they are somewhat similar?

If you have the heart to answer my amazingly ignorant and possibly annoying question I will be more than grateful.

      Thanks.

The difference between Editorial and Pythonista is their fundamental purpose. Editorial is a text editor. No matter what powerful automation and programming features it has, it will always be a text editor. Pythonista, on the other hand, is geared toward other programming tasks that may have nothing to do with text editing at all. Pythonista has features like Xcode compatibility, graphics and animation modules other than ui (scene and canvas), and science and math libraries (numpy and matplotlib), that just aren't necessary in a text editor. But, on the other hand, Pythonista is purely for Python, meaning it does not include any drag-and-drop interfaces (other than the UI builder). I personally think that you should buy Pythonista (if just to support OMZ) and try to learn Python if you haven't already. You'll be surprised what you can do on an iOS device.

I appreciate the response, that's exactly what I was looking for. I went ahead and got Pythonista. Time to learn.

A great place to learn Python for the first time is Codecademy. Pythonista also includes a tutorial in the documentation pane (swipe from right to left until you reach the final pane and tap the (?) tab icon at the top), but it isn't interactive.

            Anyway, have fun with Pythonista!

I found http://www.pythonchallenge.com to be a fun way to learn in a practical way.
