I've run into a major bug. Editorial will not load at all. I get the splash screen and then it exits. The last thing I did in editorial was access an empty directory on DropBox. I've since added a file in that directory but still get the crash. I've tried unloading from memory and a cold restart of the iPad. No luck. Help!

Anyone else run into this bug? Workaround?

You might try to connect your device to a Mac/PC and remove the file or folder that causes the startup crash/timeout with an app like DiskAid. This has worked for me in the past with Pythonista so it might work in Editorial as well.

          Thanks CCC.

I've since removed Editorial as an auth'd app from DB (from the dropbox site). Similar to your approach maybe.

Now the app briefly shows the Scratchpad.md file before crashing. It's been a month since I've backed up my workflows (I have several complex ones, my bad) so I'm afraid to delete and reinstall but at this point I don't think I have any other option.

I've backed up all the files on my Mac and have changed several files and sync'd without any success. The app just bombs each and every time I try to load it. There is something holding it hostage. I even tried iClean on the iPad in hopes of freeing up whatever is hanging. It just will not load.

It's really too bad because up to this point it's been rock solid.

Question: If I reinstall, what happens to the un-backedup workflows? Will they come back with a sync to the Mac?

            Okay, back in business.

This was a very BIG issue. It needs to be FIXED.

Thanks to CCC I was able to copy all the workflows before a reinstall (copied the COMMAND directory and SNIPPETS directory to the Mac/PC using DiskAid, as well as Presets.wkflw file from the LIBRARY directory on the iPad).

Then I deleted the app, reinstalled, reconnected to DB, unloaded from memory, copied all the COMMAND (workflows) and SNIPPETS back to the device using Mac version of the DiskAid app. (Thanks CCC!), reloaded app. All is there!

            All works fine now.

Not sure if anyone is having similar problems (couldn't find anything here about Editorial crashes) but this approach got me back and running without losing my workflows. (Note to self: ALWAYS backup workflows to DB).

            Hope it helps others.

btw: The last file loaded (which crashed the app) was a Symbols.md file that I created that included special characters for easy reference. I've since deleted this. (Not too sure if this matters but I include this detail here for reference for the developer.)

I guess my approach would have been to surgically use DiskAid to delete only the problem files... First, delete Symbol.md then relaunch Editorial. If it still crashes then repeat the process with Scratchpad.md. Only if all of that failed, would I have whacked the app.

Anyway, all's well that ends well... A relaxing way to pass your Sunday!

@daveterry Could you upload the Symbol.md file that caused the crash somewhere, so I can reproduce (and hopefully fix) this problem? Thanks a lot!
