Has any else thought about how to

      • get a large number of snippets into the Editorial system?
      • move snippets from Editorial on one iPad to another?

This seems to maybe acquire more importance in the light of the current troubles of TextExpander with sandboxing...

And while I'm at it, is there a neat way of shifting a whole load of workflows from one iPad to another? I shared them with myself one at a time, and kept a file of the URLs, then opened those on the new iPad. Kind of effective as a backup / transfer strategy, but inelegant.

It seems likely that we're going to invest quite a bit of time in customising Editorial, so thinking about how that investment can be preserved against some toerag stealing the iPad, buying a new iPad, drown the current iPad etc would be a cunning plan...

A simple Dropbox backup seems like a good solution. Kind of like podcatchers allow you to export everything as OPML. There could be a button that exports everything or everything that is not default to a single backup file or alternatively into a folder with one file per workflow for selective re-import.

Probably something that could be built with Editorial on-board tools.

For snippets, there isn't really a good way right now (and I'm still not entirely sure how to deal with the TextExpander situation). For transferring workflows however, I made a Python-based "meta" workflow that you can use to make backups of all your workflows on Dropbox (which you could also restore on a different device):

I intend to make this approach work with snippets as well in a future update.

Good news. The text expander one is tricky, but a safe-ish strategy might be to at least allow a set of snippets to be managed as a file to import / export (which is what I think you're suggesting). It'd be good if that file could be opened in a text editor and worked on, then re-imported (as many people seem to build up significant snippet-sets). It does begin to look as if we'll be managing separate text expander snippet collections for each app, anyhow. Thanks for the pointer to the workflow backup - I'm off the grab that now..

                Regarding Workflows...

Edit / View workflow lacks either any undo option or escape without storing changes !

I have found neither pressing "Done Button" nor most left close down icon to neglect accidently disturbed module´s order while swiping to scroll the screen only...
