I just received my new iPad Pro 12.5 and just wanted to convey my short upgrade experience. I have the previous Ipad 12.5 model, and basically wanted to just get everything from the old ipad to the new iPad. I just did a back up in ITunes of the old iPad and when setting up the new iPad used the restore from a back up selection. I guess this is all just standard. In the past, I normally set up as a new iPad just because I wanted a clean start.
Anyway, even though I had used syncronator (script written by a member from here) to back up my data, I was hoping all would be ok and I would not have to restore from the back up. I have both Pythonista 2 and 3 on my iPad. Version 3 is the latest beta. Anyway, Pythonista 2 showed up and had all my data, preferences, widget items, custom themes all in place. From what I can see its exact. Pythonista 3 did not show up from the backup. This seemed somehow reasonable and I am guessing it has something to do with it being a beta. But after reinstalling it with TestFlight, presto all my data was there including my link to the Pythonista 2 folder.
A few things got lost. The apps preferences were lost, like display files by date/name etc. also the widgets menu did not contain my widgets, although the files are still there. Just a matter of re adding them to the wrench menu. My custom theme for the editor was not there. All my snippets were there though :). Anyway these are a few minor small things, nothing to be worried about and I am sure it only applies to the beta version, not store versions of Pythonista.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention my experience even though everything worked as you would expect, if you haven't done it before you sort of have your fingers crossed.
Still I think even though it works it's still worth backing up with something like Syncronator to Dropbox for example. I have a couple of years of scripts and other file objects, after the initial upload to Dropbox, it's very fast in identifying the differences. Mind you I have only used it one way, but I can see a time I might use it bi directional. I think I will actually run it from my pythonista_startup.py, to account for my laziness:)

Ok, again, just wanted to share the experience for those who may not restored a New ipad from a previous ipad.

@Phuket2 I always use backup/restore when I upgrade my iPad or iPhone, not on iTunes but on iCloud, and all has always been successful 🍾
