Get list of Events from calendar?

I searched for a while but could't find a solution till now. All I want to get is a (text) list of the events of the day from my calendar. In first place I want to make a script that puts a list of my daily calendar events in Day One. I hoped I could find an app with an URL scheme that provides this functionality but unfortunately most calendar apps only provide functions to create events.
Then I had the idea that I could maybe work with an iCal feed, but I didn't find enough information to get along with that. Besides that I don't really like the idea to provide a public iCal feed of my calendar.
My last idea is to maybe find something that works with an IFTTT recipe.
Any other ideas to solve my problem?
