iOS Shortcuts and Pythonista

I have a few python scripts I would like to run and provide the results as input to the iOS shortcuts script. I can get it to pass data to and from the clipboard but this requires pythonista to run in an active mode. I have found running the script using a URL call does not update the clipboard information and I am not able to use the pythonista scrip information.
Any suggestions?
