Pythonista 3 to XCode to App Store - how?
is there a current walkthrough on how to publish a Pythonista 3 app on the app store? I've just started with Pythonista, and am entirely stuck. I've downloaded some XCode templates for Pythonista, including this here
but I don't get any further than finding
scene.pyand that's that then. The refered _scene2.py is within Py3Kit.framework.
I started using Pythonista on the iPad as I wanted to have my daughter to learn some python on the iPad she just got for Christmas. She loves the included tutorials and of course wants to share her latest and greatest on the appstore.
But we don't find any tutorial on how to do this with the current version of Pythonista (3), nor do we get it even to work on XCode on my Macbook.
It would be great if you had found a way.
Replying to my own post, I think I've found a solution, thanks to this post:
The author complains that it's working for him only if he connects his iPad directly.
Doh. That's the one thing I had not tried 🤷
So with that said, I've just expanded the xcode project from the link I've pasted before, then added my daughter's code to
main.py. I've chosen my iPad as destination to run, and of course had to tell XCode to use my profile.
Once that's done, I can easily deploy on the iPad.
From there, it should not be a fundamental problem to create an app for the appstore out of it. To be explored next...

@emax since this is a topic that comes up every so often, and not many people do it, it would probably be helpful if you jotted down a complete set of notes. Which template did you use, what Xcode settings, etc, other gotchas.
I just provided some guidance here:
